Raheem Lawal moves to Turkey

Raheem Lawal has signed for Turkish second division side Adana Demirspor but without the consent of his Spanish club.

Lawal passed a medical at the Turkish club and signed a two-year contract.

"I am happy and excited.  A lot has happened but I thank God for the breakthrough,” said Raheem Lawal, who has been given the number 4 shirt.

“My target is to do well and help the team gain promotion to the Super Ligi at end of the season. I have shame my detractors, I am looking forward to a great time here."

Adana Demirspor have been featuring in the Turkish second division since 2004.

The club are linked with two other Nigeria internationals, Godfrey Oboabona and Izu Azuka.

We can also reveal that Olympic international forward Daniel Chima Uchechi is also undergoing trials with the same club.

Azuka has also turned down trials with Spanish second division side Elche, preferring to be given a contract right away.

Lawal, who has been capped thrice by the Super Eagles since shinning at last year’s London Olympics qualifiers in Morocco, has refused to rejoin Atletico Belares for pre-season.

Instead he chose to fly out to Turkey to try his luck.

French champions Montpellier have enquired about him and an unnamed Belgian club were reportedly waiting on the player to arrive and sign the dotted lines with them on Monday.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has made it very clear to the player he will not be called up until he has sorted out his club future.
