Ideye not worried by barren spell as long as Dynamo Kiev is winning

He may not have scored in his last two matches after notching up eight goals in his first eight matches but Brown Ideye is undeterred that he has hit a barren in the Ukrainian league and in the Uefa Champions League.

He is just happy that his team overcame Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 on Tuesday in Germany. This victory came after a 1-0 league loss to Vorskla.

“We had to raise our heads as soon as possible and unite,” Ideye told his club’s official website.

It has been a familiar sight this season for the Nigerian to hit the headlines with his goals and Coach Yury Semin also expects the striker to score in all matches.

“During the last round match against Feyenoord, Semin was seen looking at his watch and shouting at Ideye in the dying minutes of the match and soon afterwards the Nigerian scored," reads a statement on the club's website.

“It does not matter who scores, because we are a team firstly. I sometimes score, and sometimes, someone else will but the most important thing is that we won.

Ideye is already thinking ahead to the weekend’s league game against Chonomerets and the second leg against Monchengladbach.

“We beat Borussia and now we need to get some rest, and then to proceed to prepare for the championship of Ukraine.

“The second meeting is not less important than the first. I suppose, in Kiev we have to work even harder to achieve the desired result.

“Borussia will try to score a quick goal, and our defence has to cope with this task,” Ideye added.
