Eagles to play Sierra Leone

The Nigeria Football Association are currently discussing with their Sierra Leonean counterparts for a friendly on September 5, three days to their Nations Cup first leg clash against Liberia in Monrovia.

The match is expected to serve as a tune up for Coach Stephen Keshi’s team before taking on the Lone Star. They will then fly out to Monrovia for their Nations Cup qualifier against Liberia three days later.

In October, Nigeria sensationally failed to reach the 2012 Nations Cup after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Guinea in Abuja. It was the first time they will fail to qualify since 1986.

Last week, the Eagles made up of players only from the Nigeria Premier League held their Niger counterparts to a goalless draw in Niamey in a friendly preparatory to the Liberia clash.

Nigeria and Sierra Leone last clashed in February 2011 with Eagles winning 2-1 in a competitive friendly played in Lagos
