Falconets match winner relishes moment


Nigeria’s Under-20 women’s squad match-winner in the quarter final match against Mexico early today in Tokyo, Japan, Desire Oparanozie can’t stop celebrating.

The attacker whose 109th minute strike in the tension-soaked encounter gave the Falconets a place in the semi final of the Women’s World Cup for Under-20s continues to relish the moment.

"This is the most important goal of my career," she said excitedly.

She also said the level of opposition was expected.

"I knew all eyes were going to be on me, but thank God l was able to get the decisive and most crucial goal," she said.

Asked if playing at extra time was anticipated, she said," I never imagined it but that is football for you. When you expect the goals to come, they don't.”
