Experience did it for us-Heartland skipper

Heartland of Owerri skipper, Chinedu Efugh is excited that they beat hard-fighting Prime FC 3-0 on penalties yesterday after a goalless draw in normal time to stay on course to retaining the Federation Cup crown.

The Naze Millionaires who were given a run for their money by the lower league side in the semi final clash in Ilorin will on Sunday face fellow NPL outfit Lobi Stars in the cup final in Lagos after the Makurdi club edged past Kano Pillars 5-4 on penalties in Calabar.

"We had to dig deep into our experience to edge them out. Prime FC really played well and that was why the game dragged into a penalty shootout,” he said.

Looking ahead to the final match against Lobi Stars this weekend in Lagos, Efugh sees a tough game but he’s sure of the club retaining the trophy.

“I am delighted we won. Against Lobi Stars on Sunday, it won't be that difficult because we know them and I see us winning the trophy again in Lagos."
