Manchester United wants Angelo Ogbonna

Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to make a bid for Torino player Angelo Ogbonna as the Stadio Olimpico di Torino outfit are prepared to let the highly determined central defender leave.

The Italy international helped The Clarets clinch promotion back to Serie A last campaign and is thought to be rated at around £16 million.

Born in the small town of Cassino to Nigerian parents, Angelo Ogbonna made his league debut for Torino in a narrow 2–1 defeat against Reggina at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino in February 2007. A strong and wholehearted centre back, Ogbonna has so far managed to notch up well over 100 Serie A appearances for the legendary club.

Urbano Cairo said of the Nigerian-Italian: “The transfer market is all about comparisons. If Internazionale request £16 million for Andrea Ranocchia, then I say that for me Ogbonna is worth the same amount. I won’t compare him to Thiago Silva, but he is an important player who has a certain value.”
