NFA threatens Mikel Obi

John Mikel Obi will be blanked out of the Super Eagles if he snubs invitation to play the Afcon 2013 qualifier against Liberia in Monrovia September this year.

The body’s technical committee chairman, Barrister Chris Green dropped the bombshell Wednesday when asked what the football house would do should the Mikel fail to honour the game against the Lone Star because of the artificial pitch in Monrovia.

“Well, he can only refuse to play in Monrovia at his own risk. If he is no longer ready to play for Nigeria in future, then he can opt out of the match on the basis that it is on astro turf”

It would be recalled that the Chelsea midfielder refused to play in Benin City the last time he was invited by the national team set up because of the artificial turf at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.
