Sunshine Stars attacked by Algerian fans

Angry ASO Chlef fans threw missiles at Sunshine Stars as they could not take in their team’s CAF Champions League home loss Friday night.

Sunshine achieved the double over the Algerian club after they again won in Chlef 2-1 after they earned a 2-0 home win a fortnight ago.

The fans pelted the Nigerian players stones and other dangerous objects on the pitch after Cameroonian midfielder, Medrano Tamen opened scoring in first half added time and the attack intensified when the Akure club netted a second goal by Ukeyima Akombo in the second half.

They could not leave the stadium immediately after the match because of the rampaging fans and had to be led out by the police 25 minutes later.
