Kano Pillars have threatened to boycott the losers’ final of
the Federation Cup after what they termed dubious officiating in their semi
final penalty shoot-out loss to Lobi Stars.
A visibly sad Pillars’ chairman Alhaji Abba Galadima said
their defeat was pre-meditated.
“The match was very
unfortunate with the way it ended. The game had already been decided before the
game. You can see the biased officiating which is terrible for the growth of
football in this country. I am sure football loving fans are really
disappointed with the outcome of the game. We scored a good goal and the
referee shamelessly denied Pillars the goal which is very unfortunate,” Galadima
said.
“So we are contemplating withdrawing from the third place
match because it is really unfortunate.
"We have spent money and time only for somebody to deny
us a ticket in the final. We don’t know what the implication will be but we
cannot prepare well for a match the way we have done and only to be denied the
way it went.
"Our football
will not grow if we don't do the right things at every point in time,"
Galadima fumed.
The final will take place between defending champions
Heartland and Lobi Stars on Sunday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos .
