Red-hot Edith Ogoke vows to spill blood

Edith Ogoke is the first Nigerian woman to box in the Olympics. She fights on Sunday. She is also the last Nigerian boxer registered for the Olympics who is still in London. The other two boxers(male) would watch her from their respective homes in Nigeria. They all lost and have bidded bye to London Olympics.

Aware of the huge task on her shoulders, Edith said yesterday that she would not give anybody any chance to tell her stories. ‘’Right now, I am hot, red-hot. I am sad that the two boxers have lost. I am going to fight their battle with mine. I pity the girl from Azerbaijan’’, Edith said moments after her training.

She is billed to fight Vy Stropova Elena of Azerbaija on Sunday in the Women’s 75kg(Middleweight) August 5 by 16.55. ‘’I’m ready to prove that Nigeria is a force to be reckoned with in Women boxing. I will not give my opponent any chance. It’s either I go for knockout or box in a way that nobody can play any tricks’’.

Ogoke’s has been reputed to have a dangerous hook that is difficult to cope with other ladies. Her punches are more severe than male boxers. She has an amazing foot-work that enables her to dance away from trouble. She  combines her left and right in a lightning flash and absorbs punches without kissing the canvass.
