Okagbare back to competition in London today
Blessing Okagbare will refocus on the event that gave her a bronze
medal at Beijing 2008 Olympics as joins others for the long jump event today at
the main arena of the Olympic Park in Stratford ,
London .
It is the chance for the athlete the country’s contingent
placed so much hope on picking a medal from the London Games.
The sprinter lost out in the 100m chase for medal when she
finished last, complaining bitterly about cramps. But she has since the sad
outing of Saturday vowed to redeem the expectations with the jump.
“Now it is over with this (100m) and as I said it is tough
to explain what went wrong. But I am putting that behind me and turning my
attention to the long jump. And I am hopeful that things will fall in place
properly this time,” she said.
The qualifying rounds for the women’s long jump will start 7.05pm today while the final takes place the
following day. The Wednesday event is scheduled to hold by 8.05pm.
