D’Tigers coach quits

Coach Ayo Bakare of D'Tigers disclosed yesterday in London that he was considering quitting the national basketball team because he “has seen it all.”

The coach, who said he was tired of the politics of the national team, disclosed that he would mull over his status in his team in the next 30 days, by which time he would consider the proposals on his hands.

‘’The Nigerian basketball terrain is highly politicised with many distractions, so I am thinking of stepping down for another person. There are so many bright, young coaches around and the administration has improved, so I will be leaving the team in safe hands. I think Nigerian basketball has come of age and does not really need me now.’’

Looking ahead, Bakare said the future is bright for Nigeria because the D’Tigers “is one of the few sides in the world with the potential for growth.”
