Nezianya lampoons Sports Ministry over Olympics no-show

Nigeria’s no-show at the London 2012 Olympics is really giving every national serious concern as the Games wind down this weekend.

One of the country’s most traveled sports journalists covering the Games, Tony Nezianya of the News Agency of Nigeria blamed authorities handling sports in the country for the woes currently befalling our sportsmen and women in London.

“Sports have gone scientific and the earlier they realised this fact, the better for sports in Nigeria. It’s so shameful, embarrassing and demeaning that at this point, we are yet to win any medal at all at the Games. We don’t develop, what we do cripple talents in the country.

“I am still at am loss on why we haven’t won a single medal in the Olympics. It’s all the fault of the Sports Ministry who must now be accountable to Nigerian than ever before.”
