Don’t blame the athletes-Chioma Ajunwa

Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara has told Nigerians not to blame the nation athletes for the country’s disgraceful showing at the just ended London 2012 Olympic Games, where Nigeria failed to win any medal.

“No one should blame Team Nigeria at all. You don’t win at the world stage without preparing very well…you cannot eat your cake and have it. What we saw at the Games was simply a reflection of our poor preparation.”

Ajunwa won the long jump event at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.
