Liberia is in trouble-Super Eagles players

Super Eagles players in the Nigeria Premier League are very sure that the team will tame Liberia to get the Africa Nations Cup qualification ticket in October.

They exuded so much confidence after Thursday’s draw in Johannesburg, South Africa pits Nigeria and Liberia for yet another showdown, a little over ten years after both countries battled to make it to Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup, with the Eagles triumphing against the Lone Star captained by former World footballer of the year, George Opong Weah.

Enyimba forward, Kalu Uche was a bit cautious in giving the two legged affair between both countries to Nigeria but harped on the need not to under estimate the opponents.

“We have to take both legs serious. There are no more minnows in world football again and as such, we must face the battle squarely and maintain our composure both home and away.”

However, Sunshine Stars of Akure player, Izu Azuka was bullish and much more confident saying that there will be no hiding place for the Lone Star both at home and away.

“We will beat them silly at their backyard and here in Nigeria. I don’t want to hear that there are no underdogs again in football! It’s a new era, they are clear underdogs and it’s time to show the world that the Eagles are soaring again under Keshi. We will beat them very well to send clear signals everywhere that we are back for real.’

It would be recalled that only four months ago, the Super Eagles stunned Liberia at home in Monrovia two goals to nothing in a friendly match.

The first leg of the qualifiers will be played between September 7-9 in Liberia, while the return leg will be staged in Calabar in the weekend of October 12-14.
