Dumb move: Wigan chief urges 'brainless' Moses to stay

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has told Latics winger Victor Moses to stay after the club turned down a third bid for the player by Chelsea.

Roberto Di Matteo has long been in the hunt for the wantaway 22-year-old, but after seeing the Blues' latest  bid of £5million rejected, it is unclear whether he'd be ready to up the stakes even higher.

Whelan was quick to point out that he wants Moses to sign a contract extension with Wigan – and urged him to think carefully about throwing away the opportunity to continue his development under boss Roberto Martinez.

"If the lad had any brains he'd stay under Roberto for another year or so. Chelsea have made three bids and we've not accepted any.

"They've all come in the last three weeks, but they've not offered enough. We're still hoping that he signs an extended deal.

"I don't know if they'll bid again, but if they do we always listen.  And if it is what Roberto believes he is worth then we will take it from there."
