FED Cup action lights up Nigeria
NPL leaders Rangers International’s Federation Cup dream suffered a blow after they lost to Prime 1-0, while Pillars were held to a 1-1 draw by Crown FC.

Nigeria National League (NNL) team Prime recorded the biggest upset in the Federation Cup group stage opening day when the Oshogbo-based team shocked Rangers courtesy of a goal by defender Tope Akanbi in the 10th minute.

In Lagos, relegated NNL side Crown FC drew 1-1 with NPL title contenders Kano Pillars.

Pillars drew the first blood in the 45th minute through a free kick from 20 yards. Gambo Mohammed's best effort was a 20-yard rocket that hit the bar in the 20th minute.

Crown FC equaliser came through Bode Daniel, who fired home in the 64th minute from edge of the box.

Giant killers Dynamite FC held Sharks FC to a 1-1 draw at Adamasingba Stadium Ibadan.

Bright Ejike put Sharks in front in the first half, before Dynamite regained parity through penalty in 65th minute.

In Port Harcourt, Heartland defeated Plateau United through a Brendan Ogbu goal, while Nasarawa United drew goalless with Gombe United in the second game of the group.

There were no games in “unsafe” Bauchi as only Enyimba and Lobi Stars are in the northern Nigerian town.

Warri Wolves have lived up to their threat not to be in Bauchi because they do not wish to risk the lives of their players after several terrorist attacks in the northern Nigerian town.

Non-league Samba of Enugu have been held back because they do not have the funds to travel to Bauchi but have now made the trip to Bauchi.
