Gwar threatens Jude  Aneke’s record

Niger Tornadoes striker Sibi Gwar yesterday struck thrice against former club Kwara to move closer to the NPL all-time record of 20 goals set by Jude Aneke on Warri Wolves last season.

Gwar has now scored 17 goals following NPL strugglers Tornadoes’ 3-1 win against Kwara United, with Segun Alebiosu getting the consolation goal for his team at Bako Kantogora Stadium in Minna.

An ecstatic Sibi Gwar said that he is delighted to have scored a treble against his old team and said he is confident he will set a new goals record at the end of the season.

“I am happy with my form, scoring a hat-trick today was wonderful, and against my former team made it even more exciting for me,” he said.

“I respect Kwara United, but I have to do my job. I scored two goals against them in first round and I scored three at home.

“I am sure I will get at least four goals in the remaining games to set a new record.”
