Emenike is Nigeria's most expensive player

Emmanuel Emenike is officially the most expensive Nigerian player in Europe courtesy of his new contract with his Russian club, Spartak Moscow.

The prolific striker, whose goal scoring form lifted Spartak to UEFA champions league play-off this season, was rewarded with a new contract with a buoyant clause of $42m (about N9.2b).

The 25 years old newly signed contract made him the highest paid player in the club history of Spartak team while the actual figure of wages were not disclosed but his current buyout clause of $42m has also made him the most expensive Nigerian player currently in Europe.

Emenike who scored 13 times for the Russian club said 'I am pleased to stay in Moscow Spartak. I liked the environment the team, everything is very nice, the fans are also excellent. The team coach, is a friend and a brother to me, the team management is also very friendly. I am glad to land a contract for this reason.

"I'm glad to have been in this category of success and I wish to give my best to the club for the reward given to me. I am happy to see myself here again this season and I can reveal to you that the fans are yet to see my best," he added.
