Whelan reveals Moses talks

Dave Whelan has confirmed further talks have taken place with Chelsea over Victor Moses and a deal appears to be close.

Chelsea have been steadily increasing their offers for the Wigan striker and following further talks on Monday it seems that the two clubs are not too far apart when it comes to the valuation.

Whelan says he spoke with Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay and told him what it would take to secure a deal and the Blues are now expected to match whatever Wigan want.

Wigan have been holding out for £10million and Chelsea now look set to cough up to land the 21-year-old before this weekend's Community Shield against Manchester City.

"I have spoken to Chelsea's chief executive and they are easy to deal with, we have told them the price and they will come back and agree it or not," Whelan told ESPN.

"We would much prefer the player to sign a new contract and stay but he wants to go to Chelsea and it's a good club so we cannot stand in his way."
