Sunshine battle-ready
for ASO Chlef
Sunshine Stars have said they are prepared for ASO Chlef in Algeria
on Friday in a CAF Champions League clash.
They are second in Group A of the Champions League with four
points, while their hosts ASO Chlef have lost their first three matches in the
series.
Esperance lead the standings with nine points with fellow
Tunisians Etoile du Sahel third on four points.
Sunshine forward Ukeyima Akombo said they are aware that the
Algerians may try some antics to derail them in front of their fans on Friday.
“The first leg was a good game for us. They played well but
we were better and that was why we won. We have something at the back of our
mind now, which is to go beyond the group stage after which we will set agenda
to win the trophy.
“We know they may want to use some antics to derail us and
distract us, but we won’t cave in for that as we are physically and mentally
prepared for them.”
Sunshine coach Gbenga Ogunbote disclosed his team are now in
a better position to do well against ASO Chlef in the return leg of the CAF
Champions League game after they won the first game 2-0 at home.
“We will take the game as it comes. Before the first leg we
knew very little about them, but after playing against them, we know what they
are like. They are a good side and we have been doing our best as far as the
return leg is concerned.
“We are going there with all seriousness to see that we get
a result that will improve our position in the group.”
