Amarachi Obiajunwa joined wrestling teammate Blessing
Oborududu and various Team Nigeria
members on the 2012 Olympic Games’ sidelines on Thursday in London
by crashing out in her first fight.
She lost to China ’s
Jiao Wang at the ExCel-North Arena 2 in the round of 16 of the women’s
freestyle 72 kg event, becoming her wrestling team’s second casualty within 24
hours.
Oborududu had a day earlier at the same venue lost 0-3 to
Ewa Michalik of Poland
in their 63 kg fight.
Obiajunwa,who had drawn bye from the qualification round
lost 0-4 on technical points and 0-5 on classification points, with her
opponent adjudged winner 5-0 VT (victory by fall).
Oborududu and Obiajunwa were the two female wresters in the
four-wrestler Nigerian team at the Olympics Games in London .
The male wrestlers, Andrew Dick and Sinivie Boltic, will
fight on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Dick will be fighting in the men’s freestyle 84 kg, while
Sinivie will be fighting in the men’s freestyle 96 kg.
