Etuhu’s Blackburn debut halted

Dickson Etuhu’s debut for Blackburn Rovers will wait another day after a pre-season game at the weekend was cancelled because of a threat of violence.

Blackburn’s game against Dutch club NEC Nijmegen yesterday was called after the police and the local authorities in Nijmegen warned of a threat of violence between the two sets of supporters.

Former Manchester City midfielder Etuhu jetted out of England to Holland Saturday to link up with his team mates ahead of the second and final game of their pre-season tour against NEC Nijmegen and was hoping to be part of the action.

The 30-year-old, who started his career at Manchester City, is the second Fulham player to join Rovers this summer after Danny Murphy and he is expected to partner his former Cottagers team-mate in central midfield.

Etuhu's experience of playing in the EPL and Europa League for two seasons will help Blackburn secure a return to EPL at the end of next season.
