Boko Haram fears alter Eagles friendly plan trip

The fear of Boko Haram has been given as reason by officials of the Nigeria Football Association to bring forward the departure date of the Super Eagles, who are billed to take on their Nigerien counterparts in a friendly match on Wednesday.

They considered security implications of the team traveling through Sokoto by road on Monday to the Niamey.

The Eagles, originally scheduled to depart by road today for the match was ordered by the NFA to get ready for the trip by air after yesterday’s training match against Prison FC of Abuja, which the Eagles won 4-0 at the FIFA technical goal project in Abuja.

Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi confirmed that a team of 23 Super Eagles players was picked to make the Niger trip for the friendly but has agreed to released three players from Sunshine Stars of Akure, including skipper, Godfrey Oboabona, midfielder Izu Azuka and goalie Moses Ocheje, to the Akure based side for their Africa Champions League clash against Algerian side ASO Chlef on Friday, adding that he retained only full back Solomon Kwambe, for the game.
