NPL bows to pressure…takes action on Ocean Boys FC

At last the board of the Nigeria Premier League has bowed to pressure and the wishes of stakeholders in Nigerian football granted as they decided this evening that Ocean Boys of Bayelsa state is expelled from the league.

In a communiqué, the body said inter alia.

“The Board unanimously agreed that article 4.2(3) of the NPL which states thus, “if a club fails to honour two consecutive matches without an acceptable reason such a club shall be expelled from the League and its matches played and unplayed shall be cancelled”. Therefore, Ocean Boys Fc stands expelled and its matches played and unplayed cancelled.

Only yesterday some sports journalists threatened to take legal action against the NPL if a decision is not taken on Ocean Boys.
