Akpala dreams Eagles return

Joseph Akpala believes that his move to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen would enhance his chances to return to the Nigerian national team.

The former FC Brugges of Belgium striker made his debut for the Bundesliga side on Saturday in Bremen's 2-0 win over Hamburg coming onto the game in the 86th minute.

And after over two years in limbo, the striker reckons that he now have a big chance to get back to make his way back to international football.

Akpala was among the quartet of players that joined the 2009 Europa League finalists at the summer and he made a cameo debut appearance on Saturday.

He watched with agony from the stands as Thomas Schaaf's team lost 2-1 to champions Dortmund in the season-opener on August 24.

Akpala has been capped seven times by Nigeria.
