The Italy
international helped The Clarets clinch promotion back to Serie A last campaign
and is thought to be rated at around £16 million.
Born in the small town of Cassino
to Nigerian parents, Angelo Ogbonna made his league debut for Torino
in a narrow 2–1 defeat against Reggina at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino in
February 2007. A strong and wholehearted centre back, Ogbonna has so far
managed to notch up well over 100 Serie A appearances for the legendary club.
Urbano Cairo said of the Nigerian-Italian: “The transfer
market is all about comparisons. If Internazionale request £16 million for
Andrea Ranocchia, then I say that for me Ogbonna is worth the same amount. I
won’t compare him to Thiago Silva, but he is an important player who has a
certain value.”
